Boltonia asteroides, False Aster or White Doll's Daisy is a very pretty addition to the native wild flower bed or prairie meadow.  It is attractive, requires little attention, propagates easily, and makes an effective background for shorter plants.  False Aster plants with their naturally rounded growth and mass of white flowers make a good contrast to the columnar shape and color of goldenrods or purple blazing stars.  Plant White doll's Daisy in average to moist, rich soil in full sun to light shade.  Plants can be pinched back in spring for shorter, more compact plants.  Plant in fall/winter or pre-treat seed with cold stratification.

The map below shows areas where native Boltonia asteroides plants grow wild but it can be planted and will grow over a much wider area than shown.  USDA plant hardiness zones 3 to 9.
